With extensive experience in the interior renovation of corporate office buildings, Reed Illinois Corporation was selected as the contractor to refurbish the public areas and elevators in the prestigious John Hancock Center in Chicago.
Upgrading the building's 21 commercial elevators, Reed performed major construction on the interior of the cabs. The project included the installation of marble panels, bronze finishes, new carpeting and hand railings, and the replacement of lighting and control panels. The crucial aspect of the project was maintaining the proper weight and balance of the elevators with the new materials to ensure their correct operation. Reed also refurbished the building's main corridors and restrooms, all while the areas remained in use by over 3,250 business people each day.

Hired by United HealthCare of Illinois, Reed was asked to complete a 220,000 square foot, seven-floor build-out within a very tight time line.
Midway through the project, United Health Care acquired another company, which required Reed to renovate an additional floor and half-yet still adhere to the initial schedule.
Through fastidious management of its vendors and subcontractors, Reed was able to complete the project on time. Furthermore, Reed accomplished all the necessary wiring and complex cable installations to accommodate the company's high-speed data transmission and to network more than 600 employees-all on schedule.
Cumberland Centre

Reed Illinois Corporation was responsible for the complete build-out of the Cumberland Centre complex. Reed's work for corporate clientele, has included interior spaces ranging in size from 2,000 to 300,000 square feet for firms and associations in pharmaceuticals, electronics, insurance, law, banking, advertising and hospitality. In addition to building-out general and executive offices, Reed's projects entail the construction of the conference rooms, workstations, high-tech computer operations, trading rooms and product showrooms. Project control for corporate interior space requires sensitivity to the designer's goals, to building standards and to its client's operating needs. Through effective management, coordination with outside vendors and value engineering where appropriate, Reed achieves timely, problem-free installations of all elements, from materials and finishes to electrical communications cabling. Typically, Reed constructs over 2 million square feet of space annually. We share the significance our clients place on meeting budgets and move-in dates.

The law offices of Gordon & Glickson, a firm that represents clients within high technology industries, wanted their public areas to instill confidence and make a statement that they understood their clients needs. The firm looked to Reed Illinois Corporation to renovate these areas in order to convey this message.
Working with the architect and the client, Reed understood the importance of including computer interfacing capabilities in both the reception area and conference room. This allowed Gordon & Glickson clients to conveniently connect a personal computer into the local area network from either area. Additionally, the elevator lobby area was remodeled to make a lasting first impression.
